Why I can never fully close a door:

Because sooner or later I will hear a jingle-jingle-jingle-clunk.

I assume it's like having a child, because the cats, especially Hopalong Cassidy cannot abide a closed door and will mew complaintively and scratch.  However, Gidget is the baddest about this because--despite her incredibly dumb facade--she has cleverly figured out that by jumping enough, she can sometimes open our lever-handled doors.  Luckily, Gidget is not my cat and she usually plies her annoying ways on Heidi's door.

Cassidy will, however, scratch at the door and meow loudly when it is closed, and while that may not scare you to death like Gidget's little jump-a-rama, it will wake you up and keep you away until you respond.  Also, Hopalong enjoys community potty time, following me into the bathroom where we can do our business together, albeit in our respective spots.  She also refuses to open even a door that's ajar by herself, looking at me beseechingly until I open it for her.

I will say, though, that the jingle-jingle-jingle-clunk is pretty funny.
