My Songstress Attempt at Doctoral Anxiety

The following blurt of crazy should be sung to “Make ‘Em Laugh” from Singing in the Rain:

Freaking out, freaking out, freaking out, freaking out.
My gut said get a doctorate my son, but I'm a negligent one.
Freaking out, I'm a spazz, kill me now, all that jazz.
I think the doctorate is right for me, but it's insanity!
I will die, I will cry, I will crumble inside,
But dammit, if I have any choice, I'll exercise my academic voice!
Freaking out, freaking out, freaking out.

I love this. If I ever get around to trying for a PhD, will you promise to call me up and sing this to me? Pretty please??.?
